What Counts As A Dental Emergency?

Dr. Shaik trusts his patients’ judgment when it comes to emergency cases. If you’re in pain and in need of fast help, we want to see you as soon as possible. However, if you’re still hesitating over whether or not you should classify what you’re experiencing as a true emergency, here are the most common situations we see that we’d consider urgent in nature:

Severe toothache

Cracked/fractured tooth

Broken/lost crown or filling

Oral bleeding

Partially dislodged tooth

Fully knocked-out tooth

Gum tissue injury

Object stuck between teeth

Jaw injury

How Can I Prevent Dental Emergencies?

Never chew on the ice in your drink.

Exercise plenty of caution when enjoying foods that are overly chewy, hard, or tough in the mouth.

Use scissors when opening packaging and not your own teeth.

Always wear a sports guard when participating in a sport where you could come into contact with hard objects or other players.

Attend regular checkups here at Shine & Sparkle Dentistry of Plano ! We can help by treating dental problems in their earliest, most harmless stages and never allowing them to become emergencies in the first place.
