Whether you’ve stumbled down the stairs and cracked a tooth or you’ve got an ache in the mouth that just keeps growing worse and worse, dental emergencies can strike at the worst times. You need relief NOW, but every dentist you contact has a full schedule or can’t make time to see you until next week. At Shine & Sparkle Dentistry, when we receive an emergency call, we see both new and reoccurring patients on urgent basis, even if it’s after office hours. Your well-being and comfort come first!

Root canals have earned a bad reputation over the years, mostly because they tend to be associated with severe dental pain and discomfort. However, root canal therapy isn’t actually the source of that pain – it’s the solution that gets rid of it! In fact, badly damaged and infected teeth that would otherwise have to be extracted can be saved and revitalized through root canal therapy.

If you’re struggling with oral pain and in need of fast care, there’s no one better to call than Shine & Sparkle Dentistry of Plano in Plano. We set aside free time each day so that we’re able to treat patients urgently in need of relief right away.

How Do I Know If I Need Root Canal Therapy?

The only way to be completely sure that you’re in need of root canal therapy is to visit our practice for a checkup, as some cases of severe dental infection don’t even exhibit noticeable symptoms. However, in most cases, there will be very clear warning signs that suggest something is wrong with a certain tooth or teeth, including the following:

Severe sensitivity to overly hot or cold temperatures

Significant pain when a tooth is used to chew food or even lightly tapped

A strange change in the tooth’s color to a darker shade (typically gray)

Noticeable inflammation of gum tissue around the base of a certain tooth

Numbness in the gum line around a certain tooth

The Root Canal Procedure

Dr. Shaik will begin by carefully accessing the inner chamber of the tooth and removing diseased pulp from within the inner chamber and the canals themselves. This substance will be replaced with a safe, fully biocompatible substitute as the tooth is fully cleaned from the inside and then sealed thoroughly to minimize chances of further infection. As a last touch, a custom-made dental crown is typically placed over the treated tooth to restore its natural shape and strength.
